NEW TURNKEY PROJECT FOR INDUSTRY PARTNER
BERTRANDT GROUP
Work has begun on an exciting
new project that will see AVL
construct two new state-of-the-art
chassis dyno technical centers for
the engineering company Bertrandt
Group.
The two identical facilities in Freising
near Munich and Tappenbeck
near Wolfsburg, will each be the size
of 5,200 m². The focus will be on
emissions testing for vehicles with
different powertrain concepts and
rated power up to 550 kW. As such,
they will be capable of testing the
complete range of vehicles coming to
market within the next years, as well
as those currently on the market.
With a conditioning area for approximately 100 vehicles in four temperature
zones ranging from –25 °C to +23 °C and four roller test benches
with temperature ranges from –7 °C to +35 °C, the sites can simulate a
wide range of environmental conditions. In addition, each location will
also feature a chassis dyno with an altitude chamber capable of modelling
altitudes from 0 m up to 4,200 m and solar simulation to comply with
latest worldwide emission legislation standards. As well as engine-related
emissions, evaporative emissions can also be measured.
“We are absolutely delighted and proud to have been awarded this exciting
turnkey project by Bertrandt Group, one of the leading engineering partners
to the automotive industry,” says Urs Gerspach, Executive Vice President
AVL Test Systems and Global Operations. “Once more we have demonstrated
that we can master not only the testing technology but also the application
and the test facility operation. Even though this is a challenging project both
from a technological and timing perspective I am convinced that our great
team will deliver according to customer expectations. This is for sure a highlight
project both for the Bertrandt Group and for AVL”.
