also been undertaken to reinforce
our commitment to this technology.
Helmut Iancu, Global Business
Segment Leader, who was previously
responsible for fuel cell business
development at our European HQ
in Wiesbaden, has now taken on responsibility
for global fuel cell activities.
Heading teams in Graz, Vancouver
and a new team in Mainz-Kastel
he and his colleagues will develop
tools and solutions for customers in
Europe, North America and Asia.
“AVL has placed itself as fuel cell
technology leader. By making these
changes, we strengthen our fuel cell
competences globally sending a signal
to the industry, that we are their
favored partner in this area.” says
Mr. Iancu.
A NEW TESTING
INFRASTRUCTURE
At the beginning of 2020 our new
fuel cell testing center will go live
in Graz. This is in addition to
our growing fuel cell competence
around the world, which is highlighted
by our partnership with
Greenlight Innovation (GLI) in
Canada. GLI provides core technologies
to cell and stack testing and
completes the full chain of AVL Fuel
Cell testing capabilities. As a next
step we will merge our forces from AVL Fuel Cell Canada and Greenlight
Innovation in Q2/2020 at one campus in Vancouver. “This is the next logical
step in our plan to strengthen Fuel Cell competences around the globe. We
want to ensure that our customers benefit from our experience in development,
simulation and testing,” says Mr. Iancu.
PUMA 2 FUEL CELL –
INDUSTRY STANDARD AUTOMATION
At the heart of our new fuel cell testbed proposition is the powerful and
tailored automation system AVL PUMA 2™ Fuel Cell. Enabling PEM
fuel cell systems and peripheral components to be tested under dynamic
and realistic conditions, it is fast becoming the industry standard for fuel
cell testbed automation.
Designed with the user in the mind, it features an intuitive user interface
that makes the system easy to use, either manually or completely automatically.
Reliable and accurate real-time control of the Unit-Under-Test
(UUT) and all measuring devices, test cell equipment and safety-relevant
monitoring functions further underlines our commitment and experience
in that new powertrain technology.
With this multi-faceted and growing commitment to fuel cell development,
we are leading the way in the widespread adoption of this promising new
technology.
