AVL SLIMLINE™
DILUTION SYSTEMS
OUR NEW DILUTED EMISSION TESTING SYSTEMS
SAVE MONEY, SPACE AND ENERGY
As global emission regulations become increasingly stringent, development
effort and complexity increase in parallel. To manage this, the AVL
product portfolio is constantly evolving to help engineers manage complexity,
testing effort and the associated cost and time challenges.
In addition to the exorbitant testing effort, space is becoming a restraining
factor. The new regulations demand more testing devices, and complex
aftertreatment systems require simultaneous measurements from more sample
points. This all leads to an increase in the number of required analysis
systems in the lab.
What’s more, driven by RDE legislation, there is a trend to pull road tests
ahead in the development process (road to lab) or to reproduce RDE tests
on testbeds to increase efficiency. This creates the need to carry out fullflow
dilution emission tests on powertrain or engine testbeds, where space
is very limited.
Furthermore, while engineers strive
to create powertrains with reduced
emissions, the development toolchain
must also consider its energy
usage. With this in mind, efficiencies
must be made wherever possible.
A SLIM SOLUTION
TO A BIG PROBLEM
To tackle these challenges, we are
leading the way with our new AVL
SlimLine (SL) systems. Designed to
support net-zero energy goals they
consume less energy and fit into a
smaller cabinet - both their physical
footprint and their carbon footprint
are reduced.
Up to 70 % smaller than conventional
cabinets, the SlimLine systems
can be easiliy integrated into your
existing test facility. The cabinets
can even fit into crowded test environments
that were not originally
built to house measurement equipment,
such as engine and powertrain
testbeds.
As well as being more compact,
they also use up to 40 % less energy
than similar products, and are
designed to reduce CO2 even further
by using fewer pumps. This
reduces wear and the demand for
spare parts. Higher robustness also
leads to longer service intervals. The
AVL TWIN FID within the AVL
AMA SL™ also saves burner gas
and fuel by allowing the flame to be
switched off when methane (CH4)
measurement is not being carried
out. Able to simultaneously measure
total hydrocarbons (THC) in
the dilution tunnel and CH4 from
exhaust bags, it removes the need
for another analyzer.
Improved accessibility and smarter
service concepts allow for total cost
of ownership (TCO) reduction of
around 40 %. And while this product
saves energy in its reduced form
factor, it still delivers greater accuracy
and reliability than conventional
products which are much bigger.
The SL Dilution Systems also help
you reduce your total cost of ownership
in other ways. By maximizing
your frontloading capabilities
they reduce development time and
effort. And with lower voltage requirements
(24 and 48 V) they remove
the need for electrical safety
training, further reducing costs.
