GAINING RECOGNITION WITH
WINNING DESIGNS
Since 1953 the iF Design awards
have been one of the most recognized
and celebrated design contests
in the World. With an aim of identifying,
supporting and promoting
good design, the contest was created
to effect social change through
design, and safeguard the role of
professional designers in society.
This year AVL joined organizations
from 56 nations, who collectively
submitted 6,375 entries in
seven award disciplines. And when
the results were announced, AVL
joined the ranks of world-leading
organizations to be recognized by
this most prestigious design award.
This year the AVL trophy cabinet has grown bigger than ever.
And the awards keep coming.
The jury of 67 judges chose our
AVL X-ion™ data acquisition platform
to receive the accolade, not
just because of its clean and minimal
aesthetic appeal, but also for
the way it simplifies a complex
problem. Helping development
engineers reduce the number of
tools required in the test environment
and cutting changeover and
retooling times, both its visual and
technical design were lauded.
X-ion received particular attention
for being versatile enough to support
both conventional and hybrid
powertrains, as well as the way it is
a future-proof investment for our
customers. In March, together with
our design partners, N+P Industrial
Design, we received the award
in the ‘Product’ category at the
official ceremony at the BMW Welt
in Munich.
“Awards like this confirm what
our customers already know – that
AVL is a world leader in the design
of ground-breaking products,”
says Martin Michelitsch, Product
Design Manager ITS.
