A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SYSTEM
DEVELOPMENT
The real benefits of eSUITE are not simply the innovative features of each
software tool, but the engineering-enhanced workflow and the way the
tools interface with each other and work together from model setup until
result assessment. Their close integration allows cross-domain influences
to be considered, even when working at component level. Working
in harmony, the tools within eSUITE enable the user to consider systemwide
factors, to resolve problems quickly and to achieve synergies with
reduced effort.
“If you change one component it will affect other systems and influence
the way they all work with each other,” explains Knaus. “If you have a
HVAC concept, for example, that will influence battery temperature and
with it the battery characteristics, and this will influence the performance
of the e-motor and the inverter, and also your overall thermal management
strategy. These interactions become very complex, hence we have
implemented workflows in eSUITE to guide the user through the different
development phases.”
This guiding philosophy, based around a user-centric approach of usability
and ease-of-use, supports the user at every step. It has been designed this
way to help engineers from established OEMs, automotive start-ups and
Tier 1s find their way in this exciting period of industry transformation.
DESIGNED WITH THE USER IN MIND
A turnkey package, it works straight out of the box. If additional support
is required, or integration with third-party products, then our AVL experts
are there to offer training or consultation services to make the integration
process as seamless as possible.
“At AVL, as an engineering company, we have a certain DNA inside us,
and it is also inside our products,” says Knaus. “This means that we’re not
just focused on our tools, but also
how they’re used. We look at our
different customers to see how we
can best serve them, what it is that
they want to achieve, and how can
we support that.”
By sharing our customers goals as if
they were our own, we position our
solutions in the way that best suits
their needs. eSUITE can, for example,
be applied to help engineers in
the transition from conventional
powertrain development to electrified
powertrain development. It offers
start-ups with limited automotive
experience the tools they need to
enter the market. It helps engineers
see how their concepts compare to
market benchmarks, and bring them
to market quickly and affordably.
DRIVING MARKET
ACCEPTANCE
With simulation solutions for the
entire powertrain concept, the emotor,
e-axle, power electronics,
fuel cell, battery and control functions
layout and integration, it is a
highly comprehensive solution that
covers all aspects of powertrain development.
It can also be used with
other AVL products, such as VSM
and AVL-DRIVE to support attribute
engineering and driveability
analysis, simply and cost effectively.
“We are supporting our customers,
to make their products better,” says
Knaus. “And this, in turn, will accelerate
and optimize the development
of the electrified powertrain, fulfilling
customer and market demands,
and driving cost minimization.”
By offering development packages
such as eSUITE, AVL is advancing
market acceptance of the electrified
powertrain and, therefore,
bringing a clean automotive future
closer than ever.
IF YOU CHANGE ONE COMPONENT IT WILL
AFFECT OTHER SYSTEMS AND INFLUENCE THE
WAY THEY ALL WORK WITH EACH OTHER.
