AVL Italia has won the tender issued by Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV), a company of the Campania Region operating in the public road and rail transport sector, for the construction of a 5MW (megawatt) green hydrogen production plant, with on-site storage and a 350 bar refueling station, for local public transport trains and buses.

History
AVL Italia is founded and located near Turin, with the goal to bring the AVL instrumentation portfolio to the Italian market.
Born as a pure commercial hub, AVL Italia develops in the following years its technical know-how, building up capabilities in commissioning and customer service activities.
Now exceeding 100 employees, AVL Italia widens its perimeter enhancing the electrical engineering team and acquiring competences in mechanics and fluidics design. These are the years in which the company becomes known and a reliable partner for turnkey projects.
As part of this rapid development, a few years later, a new business area comes to life fully dedicated to end of line cold test systems: it will grow becoming a separate legal entity in 2017.
With the aim to be closer to its customers’ needs, AVL Italia starts building the powertrain engineering team, offering locally the whole AVL portfolio. From sales to project management, starting with development and calibration activities, the team has grown and represents now nearly 50% of the company. Counting on their solid know-how in internal combustion engines, our engineers have developed a high competence in the field of e-mobility, software and controls, smart vehicles and E/E.
As evidence of a strong growth and with the aim to strengthen its presence in Emilia Romagna, in the ‘Motor Valley’, AVL Italia inaugurates in Cavriago a cutting-edge Technical Center.
Our plant is fully equipped for development and testing of both electrified and hybridized powertrains and, to serve local demand of battery competence, it also features a high voltage lab with prototype battery assembly area.
All this with a competent local team ensuring high-quality development and testing work.
It is time to also renew the look of the headquarters venue, making visible what the company has become in nearly 40 years. AVL Italia head office moves to Turin city center, in new and modern spaces and in a central position with respect to its customers.
2018 is also the year of the successful implementation of the ISO14001 and ISO27001 certifications which, added to the existing ISO9001, confirm AVL Italia as a reliable and solid partner.
