Mainz-Kastel, May 12, 2020 - AVL supports the independent test institute ISP in setting up a new test field for battery modules and packs at the company's headquarters in Salzbergen with 12 pack and 20 module testbeds as well as 78 battery simulators. Going forward, the Salzbergen-based company intends to offer a complete package of testing services for battery protection and long-term testing: from performance and life cycle tests to environmental tests, safety and misuse tests. The first construction phase of the new € 60 million battery laboratory will be completed before the end of 2020, with AVL having been awarded the contract. The first battery tests are already planned for the end of the year. AVL’s support, however, will not be limited to state-of-the-art hardware only. “In addition to our reliable measurement technology, AVL also contributes with its specific application experience for efficient battery testing,” explains Roland Jeutter, Managing Director of AVL Deutschland GmbH. Accordingly, AVL has initially prepared a market analysis, from which they developed the concept for the battery laboratory together with ISP. From the very beginning, both companies anticipated a later expansion of the facility’s testing capacities.
