Thermal design is an important component in the battery development process, since temperature has a strong influence on the electrochemical processes in the cell. Thus, a well-designed thermal system can positively influence battery properties such as aging, efficiency and fast charging capability. With AVL eSUITE™ you have the possibility to design the thermal system and to detail it afterwards. In contrast to measurement, simulation offers the advantage of examining the temperature at any point in the system, thus reducing cost- and time-intensive tests such as cold temperature tests.
In our webinar, Josef Ruetz, Senior Computational Engineer, and Philipp Wieser, Operational Lead, use the Hyundai IONIQ 5 module to present the different modeling options and their applications with eSUITE. We will use parameter studies to show different factors influencing the thermal system behavior and how you can virtually optimize it.
Key topics and takeaways:
• Modeling in system simulation and 3D CFD
• Reuse of parameters and material properties in 1D and 3D simulation
• Influences of various parameters on thermal behavior
• Insights into the IONIQ 5 module design
• ROI of the eSUITE compared to stand-alone software products
