The tenth AVL International Commercial Powertrain Conference (ICPC) is dedicated to powertrain diversification. From May 21 to 23, 2019, experts from OEMs and suppliers for trucks and buses, agricultural engineering and construction machinery will be addressing the latest challenges faced by the global commercial vehicle industry. The anniversary conference, held at Graz Stadthalle, will include lectures given by top-level representatives from industry, politics and academia, such as Dr.-Ing. Joachim Sobotzik (John Deere), Simon Conway (Caterpillar UK) or Prof. Dr. Helmut Zsifkovits (Leoben University). The well-known futurologist Matthias Horx will be present to discuss the Roadmap for the Future.

What lies ahead of us in terms of powertrain development? What can still be achieved with combustion engines and transmissions to reduce CO2 emissions? What potential do electrification and digitalization have in vehicles and machinery when it comes to reaching zero-emissions? The international expert meeting will feature parallel sessions, in which we will explore answers to these questions and outline approaches and technological trends relevant for the roadmap to drive the future of the commercial vehicle industry.

In the final discussion, answers will be sought to the question of what diversification routes are both possible and necessary in the commercial vehicle in order to achieve the ever more stringent ecological, legislative and economic targets in a fast-changing, competitive environment.

Established 20 years ago, the ICPC is a networking platform for discussing potential synergies between OEMs active in the commercial vehicle industry and in the agricultural and construction vehicle sectors. Organized by AVL in cooperation with SAE International, the conference will be held in English and is aimed at members of the technical management, as well as product development and innovation process experts.
