Bence Csongor

Bence is a Calibration Engineer at the Diesel Development and Calibration Team in Hungary. Learn more about his career and experiences below.

What I find most fulfilling about my role as a Calibration Engineer is the opportunity to operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and regulatory compliance in the automotive industry. I thrive on the challenge of optimizing diagnostic algorithms and ensuring that our vehicles not only meet but exceed stringent emissions standards and performance requirements.

As a Calibration Engineer specializing in On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), my role focuses on ensuring vehicle systems meet strict regulatory and performance standards. My key responsibilities include calibrating and validating OBD functions to detect and diagnose issues within vehicle (sub)systems, ensuring compliance with emissions regulations, and enhancing overall vehicle reliability. I collaborate closely with development teams to optimize diagnostic functions and conduct rigorous testing on both test benches and in real-world driving conditions.

I started my journey into engineering in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Engineering, where I focused on understanding vehicle design, systems, and manufacturing processes. After completing my undergraduate studies in 2018, I pursued a Master of Science in Automotive Engineering, which I finished in 2021 to stay at the forefront of automotive technology.

In February 2019, I began my professional career at AVL as a calibration engineer. I focused on fine-tuning automotive systems to meet rigorous performance and efficiency standards. This role allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world challenges, enhancing my expertise in vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, and automotive electronics.

I collaborate with a skilled and cohesive team at AVL, where our focus is automotive engineering with an emphasis on On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). Each team member specializes in areas such as powertrain systems, electronic control units (ECUs), and diagnostic technologies. Together, we work closely to optimize OBD systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while improving vehicle performance and reliability. Our collaborative efforts enable us to fine-tune diagnostic functions, perform rigorous testing, and seamlessly integrate OBD features into vehicle systems, contributing to advanced automotive solutions.
