How to Perform OpenSCENARIO Compliant ADAS/AD ALKS Simulations With AVL Tools

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has made its contribution to aligning the global safety validation approaches of Level 3 and Level 4 automation for autonomous driving functions by establishing the regulatory framework that assesses the development and validation of Automated Lane Keeping Systems (ALKS). Among other things, it defines the level of safety and responsiveness required of such a system under specific driving scenarios, relying once again on scenario-based testing and the use of simulation technologies to manage the huge testing effort for the development and validation process of ADAS/AD software.

To drive scenario-based testing in a virtual world, standardization becomes critical to enable collaboration between teams and companies. The ability for different simulation solutions to interpret any existing scenario is key to speeding up the automation process. In this context, ASAM has defined the OpenSCENARIO standards, in which AVL has participated as an ASAM member.

AVL offers a toolchain that covers the entire workflow from scenario generation to scenario simulation and is compliant with ASAM standards such as OpenSCENARIO and Open Simulation Interface (OSI). In our webinar, Simon Terres, Product Manager for ADAS/AD Simulations, and Sergio Augustin Gallego, Analysis Engineer ADAS/AD Solution, will present this workflow. They will demonstrate the execution/simulation of ALKS test scenarios according to UNECE Regulation 157 using ASAM standards. Some of these scenarios were created using Scenario Designer in our previous webinar.
