AVL Ibérica Participates in THIESEL 2024 Conference in Valencia
- News
From September 10th to 13th, the THIESEL 2024 conference took place in Valencia. Hosted by the Clean Mobility & Thermofluids (CMT) University Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the conference saw AVL Ibérica’s active participation, continuing its tradition of involvement in all editions.
The conference gathered over 200 experts from around the world to discuss and showcase the latest technological advances in safer and more environmentally friendly propulsion systems. A highlight of the event was the visit to the UPV test cells, where attendees showed great interest in AVL’s test systems. Particularly the H2 Fuel Cell TS, the Hybrid Engine TS and the Hidrogen Single Cylinder Engine TS. These solutions are pivotal in driving the future of sustainable mobility.
The collaborative project between AVL and CMT, ALL-IN Zero, is also achieving promising results in the development of hydrogen engines and fuel cells. This project underscores AVL’s commitment to its vision of “Reimagining Motion for a better, safer, greener world of mobility.”
Gonzalo Díaz, Affiliate Sales Manager, and Alfonso Peñín, Hydrogen Powertrain Development Engineer, represented AVL at the conference. Gonzalo highlighted the event’s evolution and its focus on multi-technology and multi-fuel solutions in powertrain design. He noted significant advances in engines using low-carbon-footprint fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as advanced technologies for thermal management and control strategies in hybrid engines. “It has been an impressive meeting, where I could see that we are at a time of technological revolution in mobility, not only in the automotive sector but also in sectors such as marine and aviation. The level of participation and the industry leaders present this year show the growth of the event,” said Gonzalo.
Additionally, AVL’s simulation expert, Remi Bayet, participated in a joint presentation on the 3D CFD research study on combustion chamber design parameters for adapting diesel engines to hydrogen.
Engineers continue to play a crucial role in designing the transport systems of the future. Events like THIESEL 2024 facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen collaborations that accelerate the transition to greener and safer mobility. At AVL Ibérica, we remain committed to innovation in the industry, working closely with prestigious institutions like UPV and industry stakeholders to lead the change towards a more sustainable world.
