There is a shift taking place in vehicle development and its processes. In the past, a hardware-centric approach was followed, with calibration and optimization taking up a large part of the test scheme – keeping functional testing or software testing to a minimum.
Today, software-centric development is being pursued, with functional testing performed on software-in-the-loop (SiL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testbeds. In addition, there is a need for continuous and automated testing in multiple environments.
Moreover, many tests need to be performed at the system level, especially for battery electric vehicles. This is where high-voltage integration testbeds come in – as the perfect intermediate testbed type between e-axle/e-drive and powertrain test systems.
