Official Groundbreaking Ceremony of AVL's new Location in Steyr

Last Thursday, AVL laid the foundation for a new state-of-the-art location in Steyr with the official groundbreaking ceremony. On a total area of approx. 11,000 m2, a test field with 6 high-performance testbeds is being built in addition to an office building for more than 100 employees. These testbeds are specially designed for trucks, buses and tractors and their drivelines.

Technical details:

  • 1 testbed with 5 dynos for complete vehicle and powertrain
  • 4 testbeds for powertrain and e-axles
  • 1 high-voltage integration testbed
  • Powerful cooling and ventilation system for heavy-duty trucks, buses and tractors, for different powertrain systems
  • 5 battery simulators with a total power of 1.7 MW
  • Testbeds and workshop is prepared for hydrogen including supply
  • E/E workshop and laboratory
  • Sheltered assembly areas for prototype vehicles (20m x 7m x 6.5m)

Our Chairman and CEO Mr. Prof. List, was pleased to welcome Mr. Markus Achleitner, regional minister Mr. Markus Vogel, Mayor of Steyr, as well as other guests of honor from politics and industry.

The opening of the new location is planned for spring 2024.
