Legislation is pushing automotive propulsion engineers to apply advanced transmission and drivetrain technology while striving towards improving efficiency. The required measures are often negatively impacting the vehicle’s NVH behavior. As legislation is also demanding reduced noise levels, NVH is becoming an integral task in powertrain and transmission development. Disturbingly high noise and vibration levels are emissions and are to be avoided or reduced, while considering required efficiency measures.
Before reducing noise, we must understand the responsible phenomena. In this webinar our presenter will discuss the source and impact of gear-related rattle and whine for applications like Gearbox, Hybrid Power Unit, e-Axle, Balancer Drives and Gear Train.
Investigations lead to optimization efforts, therefore we will discuss several KPIs for the quantification of gear-related noise. Simulation plays a key role in tackling the discussed tasks as it allows for cost and time efficient frontloading in the development process and virtual prototyping.
