With „CREATORS EXPEDITION“ AVL List GmbH is starting a startup program in order to work together and co-create new products and services with young, innovative companies in areas such as electrification and autonomous driving. An independently operating, strategic unit brings together the two worlds of startup and corporate.

It has always been that the automotive industry is shaped by constant advancement and also AVL itself originated from the entrepreneurial mind of its founder almost 70 years ago. “Since then we have been living this innovative spirit”, says Georg List, Vice President Corporate Strategy at AVL. With its startup initiative, AVL puts a high priority on co-innovation together with startups in joint projects. “According to our philosophy, which is to act in an entrepreneurial and innovative way all the time, we decide quickly and in the long-term at the same time – even if it’s about following new tracks. CREATORS EXPEDITION is the OEM-independent gateway for startups into the automotive industry”, List adds.

„With our program, we focus on the current megatrends electrification and autonomous driving and provide auto-tech startups a direct contact to AVL as a corporate partner”, says Sebastian Jagsch, Global Head of the AVL Startup Initiative. Next to the named technology areas AVL opens up towards software startups in order to co-create new data driven services and develop new business models. „The CREATORS EXPEDITION is looking for early stage startups that do not only deliver a pure invention but also bring in a valid use case and above all a strong team“.

The motto of the initiative has not been chosen randomly: „As on an expedition we’re joining forces with strong startup partners and each part brings in its respective strength and competence. Even though the way is not always straight and easy, we’re working closely with the startups in order to reach our common goal“, explains Jonas Schneider, responsible for the program und startup development at CREATORS EXPEDITION. During the Expedition Program the startups are working together with the AVL teams within customer or research projects and benefit on top through the access to expert know how and technical infrastructure, like test beds, testing systems and the necessary software. ”During the six months program we focus on the development of innovative technologies. After testing the new solution in the market we’re able to decide together with the startup on the best way of how to collaborate in the future.” Startups are able to apply for the participation in the program at any time online: www.creators-expedition.com.
