Clean Energy: AVL Italia Wins the Campania Region Tender for a Green Hydrogen Production Plant for Public Road and Rail Transport
- News
AVL Italia has won the tender issued by Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV), a company of the Campania Region operating in the public road and rail transport sector, for the construction of a 5MW (megawatt) green hydrogen production plant, with on-site storage and a 350 bar refueling station for local public transport trains and buses.
The project details and AVL Italia’s work on hydrogen will be presented at the company’s exhibition space at the third edition of Hydrogen Expo (Pavilion 1, stand A25), the largest Italian exhibition-conference dedicated to the technological sector for the development of the hydrogen supply chain, to be held in Piacenza from September 11 to 13.
The project has been entrusted to a consortium of companies of which AVL Italia is a part; the green hydrogen production plant will be powered solely by green energy and equipped with a solar plant, all in full compliance with eco-sustainability and operational efficiency conditions. Winning the tender highlights the company’s dedication in seeking cutting-edge solutions for tackling global environmental issues through technological innovation and represents an important affirmation of AVL Italia’s expertise in the clean and sustainable energy sector, with a particular focus on all hydrogen-related applications.
AVL Italia’s Diversification Strategy
The company has implemented a diversification strategy to explore new business areas in the energy infrastructure sector, in addition to the powertrain systems that constitute its core business, focusing particularly on hydrogen and its applications in various mobility sectors. This element is set to play a key role in the energy transition towards a low-carbon economy, thanks to renewable and sustainable sources. AVL Italia, which can count on a decade of experience in the mobility sector with high-level skills and know-how, is already working to offer the market cutting-edge solutions, with the aim of creating a more sustainable energy landscape for future generations.
“We are proud of this achievement,” comments Dino Brancale, Managing Director of AVL Italia, “which allows us to work on a project we strongly believe in: the challenge of sustainable transport is not only to build low-impact vehicles but also to develop accessible infrastructure capable of supporting the entire system. Winning the tender in Campania is another step in this direction, and we are determined to work on this project with all our partners.”
“A new challenge for EAV,” adds Umberto De Gregorio, President and General Manager of Ente Autonomo Volturno. “This project represents an opportunity for the territory of Piedimonte Matese and the entire Campania region, combining innovation and sustainability. We are proud to collaborate with AVL Italia on an initiative that not only advances the vision of EAV and the Campania Region for energy transition but also enhances our commitment to cleaner and more environmentally friendly public transport. The choice to locate the plant in this area confirms our willingness to invest in strategic areas, contributing to the development of the local economy and strengthening our infrastructure network for a sustainable future.”
