Official Supplier of Vehicle Simulation Software The partnership between the FIA and AVL RACETECH is a significant step forward in the development of motorsport technology, with The FIA using AVL RACETECH`s expertise in the field of vehicle dynamics and simulation as official Vehicle Simulation Software supplier. AVL VSM™ RACE, which can be used to prepare races and optimize lap times locally or in the cloud, incorporates comprehensive and detailed models of the whole vehicle and environment. Up to 100,000 laps can be simulated within a very short time, in order to identify the optimal set-up for a race car. AVL VSM™ RACE incorporates comprehensive models of the whole car. AVL RACETECH lap-simulation expertise is utilized by the FIA across a range of championships including Formula 1, Formula E, the World Rally Championship, the World Endurance Championship and cross-country events. The software plays a pivotal role in FIA`s approach to craft technical regulations, assists the circuit homologation process and ultimately help in shaping the future of motorsport exploring new technologies or boosting the existent.

The Spanish software company etecmo® has its roots in motorsport and is specializes in professional driving simulation. etecmo® is best known for its simulation suite with the tools Universo™ and Interact™ . At the heart of the collaboration is the use of Universo™ and Interact™ in combination with AVL RACETECH´s Vehicle Simulation Software AVL VSM™ RACE – combining the advantages of both to extract the ultimate performance. Universo™, etecmo®’s simulation rendering engine, uses ray tracing technology. This means that the renderings are based on the physical properties of light and therefore produce accurate reflections, refractions, shadows, and indirect lighting, providing an ultra high fidelity visual representation of the track and its environment.AVL VSM™ RACE, which can be used to prepare races and optimize lap times locally or in the cloud, incorporates comprehensive and detailed models of the whole vehicle and environment. Up to 100,000 laps can be simulated within a very short time, in order to identify the optimal set-up for a race car. Drive Fast, Act Faster

Launched by Ferdinand Habsburg and the Green Future Project in 2021, the “Drive Fast, Act Faster” program is helping the motorsport industry become more sustainable and make racing increasingly climate-neutral. As well as the general reduction of emissions, the program also offsets any remaining emissions by preserving biodiverse ecosystems. AVL RACETECH is supporting this goal by offsetting the complete CO2 footprint of its brand ambassadors for the entire racing season.

Ferdinand Habsburg

Born in 1997, Ferdinand was the first participant in our young driver program in 2015. The Austrian has won a multitude of victories and pole positions in the Euroformula Open, FIA Formula 3 and in the LMP2 class (Le Mans Prototype) at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, before making his DTM debut in 2019. After a second season in the renowned sprint series, he successfully focused on endurance racing in 2021: He was champion in the Asian Le Mans Series, won his class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and crowned his outstanding LMP2 season with the title of FIA World Champion. The current highlight of his career is his appointment as a factory driver for the Alpine Elf Endurance Team in the World Endurance Championship 2024.

Tatiana Calderón

Tatiana (born 1993) decided at just nine years of age that she wanted to be a professional racing driver. Having cut her teeth in karting, the Columbian has achieved her big goal in various racing series, including Super Formula Japan, FIA Formula 3, FIA Formula 2, the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), and the FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2022, she lined up in the NTT INDYCAR Series. In 2024 Tatiana is joining the IMSA SportsCar Championship in a GTD of Gradient Racing, beside American female racing legend Katherine Legge. Tatiana hopes her passion will inspire other young girls, in particular. She is passionate about making motorsport a more diverse and integrative environment on all levels.

Aliyyah Koloc

Aliyyah´s love of motorsport was handed down to her since she was born in Dubai in 2004. Her father, two-time European truck racing champion Martin Koloc. At the age of just 16, Aliyyah became the youngest ever driver winning a truck race. In 2024 at the 46th edition of the Dakar Rally, Aliyyah impressively proved that, despite her young age, she is already one of the world’s best offroad drivers. The 19-year-old Buggyra ZM Racing driver took part in the legendary competition for the second time and, for the first time, contested in the top category, the Ultimate Elite, finishing 25th overall. This season she will hit the tracks in the desert again in the W2RC Middle East Baja races as well as competing on asphalt in the 24h Series.

The 20-year-old Argentinian is a rising star in motorsport and already has extensive experience with various race cars on numerous racetracks around the world. In 2024, he will compete in the FIA Formula 2 under the colors of the legendary Williams Racing driver academy. AVL RACETECH is operating a full-motion driving simulator at it`s HQ in Graz and will be working with Franco Colapinto to constantly optimize this state-of-the-art equipment. Starting this season, AVL RACETECH will use Franco`s feedback to improve all aspects of its driving simulators to further enhance driver immersion and provide an even better overall customer experience when using AVL RACETECH`s engineering tools and services.

Finn Gehrsitz

Finn Gehrsitz

Finn (born 2004) made the step up to automobile racing and attained his international racing license in 2020 as a multiple karting champion. The youngster took his first steps in GT4 racing, where he immediately impressed and claimed class victories. In 2021, Finn became the youngest driver ever to make his debut in an Le Mans Prototpye (LMP3) in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. His team, Phoenix Racing, is a championship-winning team, which has been a familiar name in motorsport for 22 years. In 2022, Finn lines up for top team United Autosports in the LMP3 class within the famous European Le Mans Series (ELMS).

Liam & Jonas Müller

Liam (born 2004) and his brother Jonas (born 2005) are among the best young Germans when it comes to off-road racing. Their motor racing career began in the German Autocross Championship, in which lightweight cross buggies go head to head in short sprints on gravel and mud tracks. In 2019, Liam was crowned German champion in the Juniorbuggy category, with Jonas runner-up. The Müller Brothers’ big dream is the World Rally Championship. On their way there, they are contesting selected rounds of the Mitropa Europacup and the German Rally Championship in 2022.

INVICTA Racing, formerly known as Virtuosi INVICTA Racing, has been relying on the vehicle dynamics simulations in Graz since 2016. AVL RACETECH became the team’s official technical partner in 2022. The long-standing, successful collaboration in the FIA Formula 2 Championship between INVICTA Racing and AVL RACETECH reaches a new level in 2024. For the first time, in addition to using our simulation software, the British F2 team will also use AVL RACETECH’s multifunctional race testbed to characterize and optimize the gearbox and differential. This is particularly crucial to success in the new season, since all teams of the FIA Formula 2 Championship 2024 are starting with a completely newly developed generation of racing car (F224).

AVL RACETECH continues to expand its presence in international formula racing. As of this season, PHM AIX Racing is an official technical partner of AVL RACETECH. The successful German racing team is represented from Formula 4 to FIA Formula 2 and uses VSM™ RACE, our sophisticated simulation software toolchain. VSM™ RACE is linking real data and virtual simulations and enables all the subtleties of the setup parameters to be identified and adjusted accordingly. Within this cooperation, the AVL RACETECH Logo will be visible on the racing car and the overall of the team`s driver Nikita Bedrin. PHM Racing, founded by Paul Müller at the end of 2021, is already one of the best-known teams in the junior classes and is aiming to be the premier open-wheel feeder racing team. The 18 year old Nikita Bedrin, started in the German Formula 4 Championship 2021 and won his first race at the season finale at the Nürburgring. Last season, he drove in the the FIA Formula 3 Championship for PHM claiming two podium finishes (Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps).

Founded in 2010 by Kuba and Wojtek Śmiechowski, the team entered endurance racing in 2016 with prototype cars and was able to claim early success. In 2019, Inter Europol Competition extended its involvement to cover the LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) class, competing there for the first time in the Le Mans 24-hour race. The team debuted in the 2021 World Endurance Championship (WEC) – the first Polish team in the history of the WEC. Since 2022 AVL RACETECH is the official technical partner of Inter Europol Competition and supports the team, among other activities, in its preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans with it`s Simulation software VSM™ RACE and race engineering services. 2023 marked the most successful season of the team with winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most prestigious event in endurance racing and claiming the 2nd place overall in the World Endurance Championship WEC.

AVL and Ducati have been working closely together for several years. AVL RACETECH has been official technical partner of Ducati Corse since 2021. The motorsport department of the Italian manufacturer is responsible for developing the motorcycles that line up in MotoGP and Superbike competitions. Among other things, Ducati Corse uses the AVL CAMEO™ and AVL CONCERTO™ software solutions to analyze, visualize and optimize the performance of their race engines for MotoGP and other classes. And with great success: Ducati won the Constructor title in the MotoGP class in 2020 and 2021.

Green Future Project

As a member of the Drive Fast, Act Faster Campaign, AVL RACETECH has consistently dedicated funds to support the protection of tropical forests rich in biodiversity and at high risk of deforestation. Over the last few years, AVL RACETECH has safeguarded 22.66 hectares (56 acres) of the Narupa Reserve in Ecuador. For the year 2024, we have committed to protect another 10.52 hectares (26 acres). By backing this initiative, we have effectively helped to protect a stock of 2,520 tonnes of CO2e, preventing their release in the atmosphere and ensuring the continuation of the ecosystem’s services, including the carbon cycle.
This achievement is significant when compared to the carbon footprint of our brand ambassadors travelling to all the races during the season.
