The company guides students in the development and prototyping of new business ideas in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia

AVL TACC

Turin-Cavriago (Reggio Emilia), October 27th, 2022 – Tomorrow, October 28th, marks the start of the fourth edition of TACC – Training for Automotive Companies Creation. TACC is a program born from the collaboration between AVL Italia, a company specializing in the development, simulation, and testing of propulsion systems for all types of vehicles, and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It is a one-year academic course, involving around 40 students from different faculties, which aims to develop the entrepreneurial and technological skills necessary to start a business idea in the automotive sector. Dino Brancale, Managing Director of AVL Italia, will be taking part in the kickoff day by holding a speech at 10:40 a.m. at the Tecnopolo of Modena, focusing on the topic "The future of mobility: challenges and opportunities".

«The revolution affecting the automotive sector - explains Dino Brancale - requires increasingly qualified professionals who are capable of managing the growing complexity linked to the development of future mobility. The collaboration and support for the TACC project are part of AVL Italia’s broader corporate mission, which aims to create strategic skills and train the engineers of tomorrow".

As the main partner of TACC since its first edition, AVL Italia guides students in the development and prototyping of business ideas through the contribution of Creators Expedition, an AVL department that identifies innovative startups that can develop co-innovation projects alongside AVL's technical teams. The TACC program stands out for its strong practical-applicative component, aimed at validating the business ideas of students who will have the opportunity to work with the most prominent companies in the automotive sector.

During the academic year, AVL Italia will offer mentorship sessions and seminars dedicated to specific topics: "What a Startup Is & Business Model Creation", "The Lean Startup Approach", "Business Model & Business Plan”, “Cooperation, Sales, and Negotiation”. The venture also includes two company visits for students: to the Technical Center in Cavriago (Reggio Emilia) and to Graz, Austria, where the company headquarters is located.

The program’s success is confirmed by the important recognitions obtained at national and international level by some of the projects from past editions. Examples include NOVAC, working on the development of new supercapacitors for energy storage – the first university startup mentioned in the top four at the 2019 National Innovation Awards, and the Remodule team, which recycles dismantled battery packs – mentioned by Forbes as one of the 100 most influential under 30 in Italy.

TACC is part of the International Academy for Advanced Technologies in High-Performance Vehicles and Engines of UNIMORE, which fits into the broader context of the AUTOMOTIVE INNOVATION HUB of Modena, an innovative center that has been promoting and developing new trends related to autonomous driving, electrification, connectivity, and alternative forms of mobility since 2017.
